The main pur\u00adpose of ICANN<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>is to allo\u00adcate the Inter\u00adnet pro\u00adto\u00adcol address\u00ades spaces, to attribute the pro\u00adto\u00adcol iden\u00adti\u00adfi\u00ader (IP), to man\u00adage the domain name sys\u00adtem of top lev\u00adel for gener\u00adic codes (gTLD), to assign the coun\u00adtry codes (ccTLD), and to car\u00adry out the func\u00adtions of the root servers sys\u00adtem man\u00adage\u00adment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ICANN<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>coor\u00addi\u00adnates the oper\u00ada\u00adtion and evo\u00adlu\u00adtion of the DNS <\/a>root servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ICANN<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>decides the open\u00ading of any new exten\u00adsion, man\u00adages the Top Lev\u00adel Domain (TLD) list like the .com, .net, .org, .fr, .uk\u2026, entrusts the TLD tech\u00adni\u00adcal man\u00adage\u00adment to an orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion (called reg\u00adistry), which itself del\u00ade\u00adgates the com\u00admer\u00adcial man\u00adage\u00adment to a reg\u00adis\u00adtrar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But through its coor\u00addi\u00adna\u00adtion role with\u00adin the names attri\u00adbu\u00adtion sys\u00adtem on the Inter\u00adnet, it has a sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant influ\u00adence on the Internet\u2019s devel\u00adop\u00adment and evo\u00adlu\u00adtion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
